Transportation and
Storage Service Rates
TransGas Limited (TransGas) wishes to announce changes to its rates for transportation and storage services that are effective January 01, 2006. TransGas will be reducing these rates by an average 2.6 percent. This rate reduction is a result of increased flows on our system, as well as, continued operating, maintenance and administrative cost containment on the part of TransGas.
TransGas last adjusted its rate levels on November 1, 2004, with an average 3.4 percent rate decrease.
The specific transportation and storage rates are attached to this letter in Appendix 1. Both the existing and the new rates are shown on this table.
TransGas also wishes to announce that it will be increasing its transmission gas- in-kind requirement (unaccounted for gas [UFG] and fuel gas) assessed on receipt transportation from 0.4 percent to 0.6 percent effective January 1, 2006.
In 2001, TransGas began using variance accounts to track differences between the actual UFG and fuel gas for the year versus the gas supplied by shippers. The variances are then applied to establish the recovery rates for the following year.
For January 2005, the UFG assessment was set to 0.1 percent and the
fuel gas assessment was set to 0.3 percent (aggregate 0.4 percent)
in an effort to return the accumulated surpluses in the variance
accounts. The
