January 13, 2009 New TransGas Daily Storage Production Peak and 2008/09 Winter Peak Days Transport On December 22, 2008 TransGas achieved a new all-time maximum for total daily production from our storage facilities. The total production on this day from the eight storage locations – the cavern facilities at Regina, Melville, Moosomin, Asquith, Prud’homme, Landis, and the storage fields at Unity and Bayhurst - was 561 Terajoules (TJs), which exceeded the previous maximum daily storage withdrawal that occurred January 27, 2004. The currently contracted TransGas storage deliverability, the maximum amount storage customers can withdraw on a daily basis, is 679 TJ/d. TransGas has been increasing its storage capacity, both firm volume and deliverability, as part of the “Energy to Store” project, which includes the development of three additional caverns at Landis, enhancements to the storage fields at Unity and Bayhurst, and additional deliverability at Asquith. The 2008/09 winter TransGas total system transport peak day to-date was on December 22, 2008, the same day as the new storage withdrawal peak day. The total transport on December 22 was 1,390 TJs, which compares to the last three winter peak days that were all at approximately 1,500 TJs. The previous winter peak days had greater export deliveries to TransCanada Pipelines Limited (TCPL). The Saskatchewan load peak day for this winter to-date occurred on December 14, 2008, with a daily load of 1,087 TJs, which was the second highest of all-time, and slightly less than the record Saskatchewan load day that occurred on January 27, 2004. Over the past few weeks the TransGas system has had a very good test of its capabilities, both transport and storage withdrawal, while we have been in these well below normal weather conditions. The system has performed well. For more information, contact:
