A total of 75 wells were inspected as part of the inventory and information about the structure and use of the wells was gathered. The static water level was measured and water quality samples were collected and analyzed, with a copy of the analyses being provided to the well owner. The water well inventory was required by Saskatchewan Watershed Authority as a requirement of the hydrogeological study that was completed. This water quality sampling ensures that if there are any concerns that arise throughout the duration of the project, we will have baseline data to compare against. To monitor the effect of the pumping on the Sutherland Group Aquifer, we have 22 monitoring wells where dataloggers have been installed to measure and record the height of the water in the aquifer. The monitoring wells are at varying distances and directions from the source well site so that the drawdown effect on the aquifer can be accurately measured and modeled once pumping starts. |
