TransGas is providing early notice of a potential Alberta Supply Binding Open Season that is anticipated to take place this summer.
TransCanada Energy (TCE) has published its intent to hold an Open Season for new capacity on its NGTL system in the summer of 2026. This would lead to a corresponding TransGas Open Season for incremental NIT to TEP service.
While full details are not yet available, we want TransGas customers to be aware of possible Open Seasons, given the approvals and internal processes typically required to support binding transportation commitments. In recent years, TCE has also held corresponding or subsequent Open Seasons on its Mainline system, which would enable TransGas to offer an Empress to TEP Open Season to TransGas Customers.
Early consideration of future Alberta supply requirements is highly beneficial. To assist with preparation, customers may wish to review:
- TransGas’ Alberta Supply webinar, which was delivered in 2025 and provides background on Alberta supply services and the Binding Open Season process.
- The 2025 Alberta Supply Open Season
- The 2024 Alberta Supply Binding Open Seasons:
- TCE bulletins publishing the results from the 2024 and 2025 New Capacity Open Seasons on the NGTL System.
It is important to note that the anticipated Open Seasons may change depending on the situation at the time. Official communication will be provided once details are confirmed and timelines are available. In the meantime, please feel free to contact your Key Account Manager if you have any questions or would like to discuss potential needs or approval considerations.
