Energy accounts held by all transportation customers make up the TransGas Energy Pool (TEP) in Saskatchewan.
For customers interested in Alberta supply services, TransGas offers two types of firm service: Nova Inventory Transfer (NIT) to TEP and Empress to TEP receipt service. TransGas also offers interruptible receipt service at NIT, Empress and McNeill, when available.
NIT to TEP (NTT) service is for moving gas from receipt points at NIT in Alberta to TEP in Saskatchewan. TransGas manages the flow of gas from Alberta through various border points (Cold Lake, Unity, McNeill and Empress). This optimizes system operations and minimizes transportation costs.
Empress to TEP service is for moving gas from receipt point at Empress to TEP by way of the TC Energy mainline.
Minimum term length is one year.
Minimum term length is one month for NIT to TEP service. Short-term firm is not available for Empress to TEP.
Interruptible (short-term only)
Day-to-day, when available, in order of priority: NIT, McNeill to TEP, Empress to TEP
NIT to TEP Long-term Firm
This service has yearly after initial term (YAIT) renewal rights. Service will automatically renew for a one-year period unless a customer provides written notice at least 16 months before the current term expires. Customers have the ability to renew for a longer term to take advantage of lower tolls. In order to receive YAIT renewal rights, the contract must be a minimum three-year term. Any contracts of a shorter duration will have non-renewal rights (NRR).
Empress to TEP Long-term Firm
This service has yearly after initial term (YAIT) renewal rights. Service will automatically renew for a one-year period unless a customer provides written notice at least 26 months before the current term expires. If Alberta transport is available, TransGas has the ability to convert this service to NIT to TEP service on the annual renewal date. In order to receive YAIT renewal rights, the contract must be a minimum three-year term. Any contracts of a shorter duration will have NRR.
This service is NRR.
This service is offered on a daily basis, when available. A customer that holds Long-term firm or Short-term firm service will also hold an associated Interruptible (IT) contract.
TransGas NIT to TEP customers pay standard receipt transportation rates as well. They are also subject to an Additional Cost Recovery (ACR) charge for the transportation of gas to the Saskatchewan border. This charge recovers the net transportation costs on the Nova Gas Transmission (NGTL) system, less any liquid credits. The applicable ACR rate changes quarterly based on contract term length.
TransGas Empress to TEP customers pay standard receipt transportation rates.
Both NIT to TEP and Empress to TEP services are subject to fuel gas rates, which change on a monthly basis, as per the TransGas Tariff.
